In the 11th minute, Wolverhampton missed a great opportunity. First, Hwang Hee-chan shook up the defense with aggressive forward pressure. The ball eventually found its way to Cunha, who took it straight to the West Ham goal, but his shot was straight at the keeper.

West Ham struck first in the 22nd minute. After Wolverhampton failed to capitalize on a corner kick, the Hammers counter-attacked, leaving one defender open for Koudou to strike a low, quick left-footed shot from just outside the box.
Wolverhampton went in search of an equalizer. In the 28th minute, Cunha unleashed a mid-range shot from some distance out. Instead of passing to Hwang Hee-chan, who was rushing into the box, he finished directly, but his effort was saved by the keeper.
