Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit of Benfica’s Morata, 22.
Tottenham are reportedly stepping up their approach to sign Morata, according to British media outlet TeamTalk. Both Nottingham and Fulham have failed to sign Morata. Fulham reportedly offered €25 million and Nottingham €30 million.
Born in 2001, Morato made his debut for Benfica’s first team in the 2021-2022 season. After gaining experience, Morato has shown his potential this season. He has made seven appearances in the Primeira Liga and five in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).
‘Many teams in Portugal are known to excel at developing young players,’ says TeamTalk. Benfica are working their magic on Morato. He has been on the radar of English Premier League (EPL) teams. He was first targeted by Tottenham in November. ‘Tottenham president Enze Postecoglou sent scouts to check on Morato four times in November alone,’ the outlet added, citing a report from another media outlet, The Sun.
Tottenham are looking to strengthen their defense in the winter transfer window next January. Micky van der Penn is out through injury. Cristian Romero 안전놀이터 has had the misfortune of missing a game through red card suspension. “We need to sign a center back,” Postecoglou said earlier. We are in a precarious situation. If something happens, our strength will be weakened.”
‘Postecoglou has used Eric Dier, as well as Emmerson Royale and Ben Davies, at center back,’ says TeamTalk. Morato’s arrival would give Spurs a solid center-back option. He could even be a long-term replacement for Dier.
